Master’s program: Strategische Produkt- und Innovationsentwicklung

The Master's program Strategische Produkt- und Innovationsentwicklung (formaly Strategic innovation in products and services) is a key competence for holistic product and design development at the interface of customer requirements, economic sense, and technical feasibility. Innovative developments with potential for the global market are also expected of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) The Master’s program Strategische Produkt- und Innovationsentwicklung is a springboard for industrial designers, (business) economists and engineers with vision and a keen interest in design. It forms an excellent starting point for your career in industry, the economy, or science.

MSI program ‒ timing details
Accreditation of the MSI program is still in progress. Students have been admitted since winter semester 2012.

Your portfolio and application documents must be with us by May 2nd, 2018 (i.e. what counts is not the posting date but the date of arrival).

Application documents
No specific task is set for the portfolio, nor is a specific layout required. You may choose any topic, but the size of the portfolio must not exceed A3. The following documents must be submitted on application. Please arrange them in the order listed below:
1 Completed application form – on paper (following link)
2 Authenticated copy of your Bachelor’s certificate with the overall grade of 2.0 or better (German grading system) – on paper. Applicants from PRC must also submit an APS certificate with overall grade of 2.0 or better – also on paper.
3 Letter explaining your reasons and motivation for applying for this program – on paper.
4 Curriculum vitae / resumé – on paper.
5 Portfolio (maximum size A3) – on paper.
6 CD/DVD containing all your application documents, including the portfolio.
7 Certificate of a design-, strategy-, developmental, ecological or interaction-oriented internship of min. 10 weeks to the time of enrollment in the Master's program


Admission requirements
The following conditions must be fulfilled:
• Succesful completion of a Bachelor’s program with a minimum of 180 ECTS (credit points) in one of the following disciplines: industrial design (or industry design); product design (special focus: technical or strategic product development); mechanical engineering, (business) economics (special focus in each case: product or innovation development).
• An overall grade of 2.0 or better (German grading system) in the Bachelor’s program.
• A good working knowledge of English is also desired.
Do not apply for this program if your overall grade is not 2.0 or better.

• Applicants from PRC must have achieved an overall grade of 2.0 or better in the APS program.
