Shaping the future

The Industrial Design program at UW (UWID) offers practically slanted training in process-oriented product development. The distinctive feature of the Wuppertal model is to broaden core competencies in industrial design with scientific training in innovation and strategy development.

UWID combines new thinking with technological and design know-how. UWID is the interface between the future wishes of the global consumer and industry. Studying industrial design at UW means learning to innovate. Our professional standards are those of the international leaders.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Industrial Design is a four-year program, starting each winter semester. Our Master’s (MA) program is currently under construction. UW is one of the few German universities offering a doctorate in industrial design. The degree awarded is that of Doctor of Philosophy (Dr. phil.).
