Marcel Befort

Strategic exploration through design.
Exploration through design, creating forms through design exploration – developing and steering a design-cum-corporate culture through reflection on intercultural values – methods and strategies of design as an essential component of a sustainable corporate strategy.

Current position
Since 2008 Marcel Befort has been working at UWID in Prof. Dr. Wolf’s team. As well as his teaching and research activities there, he works independently in 'Design & Strategy’. Since 2009 he has been increasingly occupied with work on his thesis.

While studying at Cologne’s International School of Design (KISD) Marcel Befort completed various work placements in corporate identity and product design (among others with Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux). For several years he took part in the European Scout Network with projects for Lego, Levi’s, Siematic and other companies. In 2003 he was awarded a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation, and in 2004 he launched the design magazine ROGER together with a group of fellow students. He completed his studies in 2006 with a project entitled ‘LISTENit’, and was recruited to the design team at Yellow Design in Cologne. In the same year he moved to the BMW Group in Munich as design manager in strategic marketing for the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands. Since 2008 he has been attached to the Chair of Design Theory at UWID and is at the same time working independently in 'Design & Strategy’. Find Marcel Befort here at XING.
